British Values

At our school, British values are part of everyday life. Through our relationships, learning and service to others, we help children develop into respectful, responsible and compassionate members of our community.

We promote the four fundamental British values:

🗳️ Democracy

We believe children should have a voice and know that their views matter. Our School Council gives pupils opportunities to share ideas, represent their classmates and take part in decisions that help shape school life. Children learn to listen to different opinions and work together respectfully.

⚖️ The Rule of Law

Children learn why rules are important and how they help our school community to be safe, fair and happy. We encourage pupils to understand their responsibilities, make good choices and recognise the impact their actions can have on others.

🌱 Individual Liberty

We encourage children to become confident and independent learners who can make positive choices. Pupils are supported to express their ideas, develop their interests and take responsibility for themselves and others within a safe and caring environment.

🤝 Mutual Respect and Tolerance

Respect and kindness are at the heart of our school community. We encourage children to value and celebrate the differences between people, listen to others and treat everyone with dignity and compassion.

Learning Through Service

A strong part of our school ethos is service to others. Children have opportunities to help and support one another, contribute to school life and understand how small acts of kindness can make a real difference through our Service in School scheme.

As a church school, our Christian character is also reflected in our links with St Mary's Church. We regularly come together for services, giving children opportunities to celebrate, reflect and participate as a community.

Through these experiences, we help our children understand that being part of a community brings both rights and responsibilities — and that everyone has a part to play in making a positive difference.
