STEM - Computing

“Computing is not about computers anymore. It's about living”.

Nicholas NegroponteComputer scientist

Intent:

  • Give our children access to a rich, engaging and sequenced computing curriculum.

  • Give our children life-skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technology. We want them to do this in a socially responsible, safe and secure way, in order to flourish.

  • Enable our children to be able to operate in the 21st century workplace.

  • Develop creativity, resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Implementation:

To achieve this, we will utilise technology to support learning across the entire curriculum where it can be used in a wide range of subjects. At Bottesford C.E.Primary School, we ensure our children are introduced to a wide range of technology, including laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards; allowing them to continually practise and improve the skills that they learn. We want to ensure our children are confident to be part of an ever changing, fast paced, digital world.

Impact:

Our children will become confident and independent users of computing technologies whilst enjoying what they learn. Children at Bottesford CE will become digitally literate and competent users of technology. Throughout their work, children will learn to become responsible digital citizens.
